If I had to chose one amazing thing about being human it’s the ability to make internal adjustments for our betterment.

Inner-work. That’s what I call it.

Get rid of an angst.

Shift a mindset.

Process information differently.

Consider multiple realities instead of one.

Cleanse your heart.

Break bad habits.

Difficult, yes. Requires discipline, yes. (It’s called inner-work and not inner-play for a reason.) But we can do it if we decide and commit.

Think about going through your whole life and never performing any inner-work, never looking within to do the work of the soul, the work of the psyche.

A scary thought, no?

Don’t go there. Go here instead. Make doing the inner-work, whatever it may be, your go-to strategy to get you through life and its difficulties.

Use it to make your ideas blossom too.

How do you respond when you think about that one idea that gives you goosebumps?

When I started the GoneGirlGo journey years ago, I realized inner-work was the primary action needed to make your ideas blossom. Your response to the question I posed (or lack of one) might possibly lead you to discover some of the inner-work you need to do.

Are any of these your response to the question?

  • Ignore it and like the idea doesn’t exist.
  • Drag your feet and procrastinate about it.
  • Become anxious and feel overwhelmed.
  • Question your capabilities
  • Lack in confidence.
  • 2nd guess yourself.

If so, doing inner-work can set you on the path of pursuing your passions whether it’s starting a business, launching a blog, or activating your bucket list.

I don’t believe there’s a prescription for inner-work.

There’s no one-size-fits-all.

No cookie cutter approach nor a right or wrong way.

Here’s a list of possible approaches.

Practice gratitude

Professional help

Prayer and meditation

A support group

Exercise and self-care

Journal writing

Mindfulness

Creative expression

Affirmations

Energy cleansing

Retreats

Spiritual pursuits

My approach consists of journaling, prayer, therapy, and worship. When I’m doing my inner work, I’m good. I’m transforming. I see the fruits of my labor: self-satisfaction, self-compassion, self-determination, and self-awareness because I’m making my ideas blossom. I notice other benefits too like setting boundaries and prioritizing what’s important to me.

Doing inner-work transforms you and takes you to another level within causing self-doubt, negative self-talk, and other internal struggles to lessen or cease altogether. It opens the path for you to make your ideas blossom. The gist is to never stop and make it a lifelong, go-to strategy so you can benefit from the fruits of your labor.

How about you? What inner work are you doing or need to do to make your ideas blossom? For a personal reflection, respond to these prompts in your journal. For a group exchange, respond in the comments or email me at zoe@gonegirlgo for a private conversation.
